Malignaggi furious with judges: They bent me over!

23.08.09

Paulie Malignaggi was furious with the judges last night following his points loss to Juan Diaz in Texas last night, in a HBO televised event.

Scores were 110-110, 113-115 and 112-116 for Diaz.

"I've been watching boxing a long time and you don't see too many good decision in Texas with out of towners against Texas fighters. I don't know who to blame. I put my two cents in before." Said Paulie

I didn't want Gil Van Hoy and I didn't want Raul Caiz. Actually Raul had it pretty close, he had it seven to five. I have to watch the fight on video. I thought I won the fight when I was fighting him but at least seven to five was a close score," Malignaggi said.

"118-110 was Gale Van Hoy d*cking it to me. He bent me over and he f***** me." said Paulie.

"I said before the fight that this guy never goes against a Texas fighter in the state of Texas. I complained about him and he did it to me on purpose.

There is no way that anybody won that fight 118-110. I didn't beat Juan 118-110 and Juan didn't beat me 118-110. Gale Van Hoy filled out his score card and said 'let me f*ck Paulie Malignaggi' because he talked sh*t."

WBO title changes hands again: Stieglitz beats Balzay

23.08.09

In a Universum bout last night, Robert Stieglitz (36-2, 22 KOs) against the odds, stopped unbeaten WBO champion and betting favourite Karoly Balzsay (21-1, 15 KOs) in ten rounds to claim the WBO super middleweight title on Saturday in Budapest, Hungary.

Asserting pressure upon the champion from the outset, the underdog tired out the German-based Hungarian. Stieglitz rocked the champion during the 9th round amid a barrage of punches. Balzay went down but it was ruled a slip by Joe Cortez.

Stieglitz continued his assault on the spent-looking champion during round 10, then at the break Balzay's trainer pulled him the fight, giving Stieglitz a TKO win and the WBO title.

Balzsay was taken from the ring on a stretcher wearing a neck brace, amid speculation of a neck injury.
