Reid eyes Froch clash

Robin Reid, who got back to winning ways on Sports Network's Contender show in March, has been nominated to tackle British super-middleweight champion Carl Froch.

It was the fight that Reid, whose clash with Jesse Brinkley will be shown shortly on ITV4, desperately wanted.

Purse bids for the fight are to be held in mid June, with it going ahead by the end of October.

Reid walks straight into the title fight after Glen Catley withdrew from an eliminator.

The veteran Runcorn man - a former WBC, IBO and WBF world champion - has never fought for the Lonsdale belt despite his many years of success and a bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics.

His record currently reads 39-5-1 (27), and he has also challenged for WBO, IBF, WBA and WBU world titles.

Unbeaten Froch, 21-0 (17) is the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight champion.
