VIDEO: Brandon Rios knocks out Urbano Antillon
WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios staked his claim as the planet's top dog at 135lb's last night with a crushing victory over tough nut Urbano Antillon.
The unbeaten 25-year from Oxnard racked up his 21st stoppage win from 28 outings since his professional debut in 2004.
Antillon, a Mexican based in California, was cut from the same cloth as Rios - a tough, aggressive fighter with a never say die attitude.
But Rios did everything better than his challenger, dispatching him in just 3 lopsided rounds to retain his title for the first time since he knocked out former holder Miguel Acosta in 10 rounds back in February.
British fighters such as Kevin Mitchell and John Murray both claim they are head-hunting a fight with Rios next, following their own collision this coming weekend in Liverpool.
You'd have to favour the champion to retain the title based on all their recent performances, unless Murray or Mitchell can show us another gear in their bout this Saturday.
