Burns vacates: Looking like Broner vs Perez for vacant WBO

Ricky Burns is allegedly set to vacate his WBO super featherweight title , following persuasion from his team.

"It gets more difficult for fighters to keep making the 9st, 4lbs mark as they get older. Ricky is now 28 and it was always the plan for him to move up to lightweight." said Burns manager Alex Morrison earlier in the week.

The vacant title fight will certainly see Burn's mandatory Adrien Broner in action. His opponent is yet to be decided but could possibly be Eloy Perez (22-0, 6ko) who is also high in the organisation's ranking system.

The route ahead for Burns at lightweight is unclear, although rumours suggest a fight with John Murray or even Kevin Mitchell in the not to distant future await the popular Scotsman, currently unbeaten since 2007.
