Murray and Sturm make the weight

Sturm faces unbeaten Murray

St Helen's Martin Murray weighed in at 159lb tonight ahead of his WBA world title challenge against Felix Sturm, who was just under the middleweight limit himself at 159.6lb.

Murray, unbeaten with a record of 23 wins and 10 knock-outs will be the second Brit to challenge Sturm in Germany this year. Birmingham's Matthew Macklin put in a thorough effort back in June, dropping a split decision in a fight many thought he actually won.

However boxing analysts predict that Sturm's previous fight will be bad news for the challenger, as the champion will not take another unheralded Brit lightly again.

Retired world champion Ricky Hatton who promotes Murray strongly believes that the opportunity has come at the right time for his charge.

"I feel Martin Murray can become my first world champion." said Hatton.

"Apart from his obvious talent he's in his prime, hungry, fresh with very few miles on the clock. This is the right fight at the right time."

The action will unfold live on Sky Sports 1, with coverage beginning at 9.45pm.
