George Groves looks set to face his nemesis in the form of Scotland's Kenny Anderson when the BBBoC formally announced that 'The Saint' will have to defend his British title against the formidable 15-1 (11ko) dangerman.
Anderson, whom has spent the lion's share of 2011 sparring Carl Froch in Sheffield has also racked up three KO wins since losing against Groves back in Nov 2010.
But Groves has had the better run of the two, with a tremendously tight win over the much-heralded James Degale in a huge London grudge match and a dramatic knockout of tough Liverpudlian Paul Smith the other month.
Anderson is naturally delighted he is getting his opportunity to right the wrongs in his last meeting with Groves. The rematch was promised back in 2010, but it never materialised. He believes George was happy to rematch him straight away back then as promised, but his team were less so.
“I am not going to say the fighter was scared but there are a lot of people involved in putting on a fight. It’s not the boxers who make the fights.
“He got a close call with me and got a lot of criticism – he probably wouldn’t be keen to fight me again.
“His manager Adam Booth didn’t want him to fight me and the men behind him wouldn’t have wanted it either.”
