Cotto rolling back the years with a perfect effort

With yesterday's big news regarding the super fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto being wrapped up for "Cinco De Mayo" it has now been revealed that another 154lb superstar in Saul Alvarez will also be making a potential cameo the same evening.

Goldenboy Promotions are set to unveil the exact details surround the opponent name and venue, but it looks apparent that the Mexican will be showcased to both Mayweather and Cotto supporters by HBO, in an effort to drum up interest in a fight later down the line between the winner and 'Canelo'.

Mayweather has already fired off barbs in Team Pacquiao's direction since his decision to face the popular Puerto Rican. Stating that "Mrs Pac Man" didn't want the fight and neither did his promoter Bob Arum.

He also went on record to say he will be fighting at 154lb and that unlike Pacquiao, he had no interest in boiling down Cotto to a catchweight. The unbeaten WBC welterweight champion will thus be stepping up to snatch Cotto's WBA strap within the light middleweight division.

The winner will be perfectly placed to defend the WBA title against Alvarez and his WBC version of the belt, later in the year.
