Northern Ireland's WBA Interim super middleweight Brian Magee draws closer to his first defence of said belt, against Denmark's Rudy Markussen.
"Magee is a tough champion who has proven his class in a lot of battles," Markussen said.
"But I am the hardest-hitting fighter at super middleweight, and when Magee finds out about my power, it will be too late for him."
The bout is scheduled for Feb 18th in Copenhagen, the hometown of Markussen. As a youngster the challenger shared the same coach and gym as his friend Mikkel Kessler.
Markussen retired from the sport for almost 4 years after suffering a knockout defeat to Russian Sergey Tatevosyan. The Russian then went on to take Lucian Bute the distance and then was stopped in two short rounds by Carl Froch in Nottingham.
With a record of 37-2 (24ko) the challenger seems to be a good test for Magee on paper, but since Markussen resumed his career his opposition have been fairly limited.
Meanwhile Magee knocked out Mads Larsen and gave troubles to Lucian Bute in a world title challenge before succumbing to a body shot late in the bout.
Magee captured the title on yet another overseas mission against Jaime Barboza in his native Costa Rica in July. The full WBA title is currently held by Andre Ward.
