Heavyweight favourite Sir Henry Cooper's prestigious gold Lonsdale belt sold for £49,250 at auction last week, at Bonham's Sporting and Golfing memorabilia sale in Chester.

Cooper passed away in May last year aged 76. An English heavyweight boxer known for the effectiveness of his left hook, "Enry's 'Ammer", and his knockdown of the young Muhammad Ali.

Sir Henry held the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles several times throughout his career, and unsuccessfully challenged Ali for the world heavyweight championship in 1966.
