Quintana or Trout to replace Victor Ortiz

Austin Trout

Following the controversial quitting of Victor Ortiz last night, Goldenboy Promotions CEO Richard Schaeffer has indicated that two names will now get thrown into the mix for the opportunity.

The main threat being considered is Austin Trout who is the undefeated WBA light-middleweight, with a record of 25 wins and 14 knockouts.

But another strong outsider also in the mix is Puerto Rican southpaw Carlos Quitana, who handed a lacklustre Paul Williams his first defeat, before being brutalised by Williams in the rematch.

Knockout losses to Andre Berto and Miguel Cotto also blot his otherwise impressive record. He would likely prove the best value, given he would fight for pennies compared to the unbeaten champion in Austin Trout.
