Holyfield in Celeb Big Brother 2014, hand-cuffed to ‘sex kitten’

Real Deal Holyfield

There are so many highlights in the legendary boxing career of Evander Holyfield. A former Olympic Silver medallist, undisputed champion as a cruiserweight and heavyweight, a former four-time heavyweight champion…Holyfield has accomplished one of the most outstanding resumes in boxing history.

However, last night the former champion began a challenge of a different kind when entering the Big Brother house in Channel Five’s latest instalment of Celebrity Big Brother.

The long-running show promises big names every year but nearly always disappoints and last night was no exception. Of the twelve contestants over half were barely-known ‘Z-listers’ scraped from a near-desperate barrel of none-entity.

Alongside Holyfield the most-recognisable faces entering the show were controversial comedian Jim Davidson, former pop star Lee Ryan and ancient TV and dance star Lionel Blair.

Contestants were introduced in pairs and promptly hand-cuffed together in a “hilarious twist”. Evander, looking somewhat bemused by the occasion, perked up when introduced and subsequently hand-cuffed to self-styled ‘sex kitten’ Luisa Zissman.

If like this writer you are currently wondering who on earth Ms Zissman is, she was apparently a runner up in TV show The Apprentice. Holyfield, now 51-years-old, gave his CBB partner an appreciative look before boasting of his ambidextrousness as the cuffs were put on. Twenty-six-year-old Zissman had revealed in her profile she was a regular attendee at sex parties and suggested she could engage in frivolities in the house.

The two were then sent on their way up the famous stairs by show host Emma Willis.
In another excruciatingly pointless ‘plot twist’ Jim Davidson and his ‘cuff-partner’ Linda Nolan had to pick a couple to unlock on the first night in the house. They chose to save pint-sized rapper Dappy and out-spoken columnist Liz Jones as the remaining ‘celebs’ stayed in the ‘chain gang’.

The rumour mill had been gathering steam for a while about Holyfield entering the house. It has been reported many times in recent years of the boxing star’s financial struggles since his boxing days ended despite earning millions during his famous fight career.

The Atlanta fighter turned pro in 1984 and spent all but one year from 86’ to 2001 as a world champion. He holds victories in his glittering career over fellow legends Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, George Foreman and Larry Holmes among many others.

His last bout was just two-and-a-half years ago when he stopped Brian Nielsen in ten rounds in Denmark. It was his 44th victory in 56 bouts.

In June 1997 he famously defended his world heavyweight title against “Iron” Mike Tyson in Las Vegas by disqualification after having a chunk of his ear bitten off. Holyfield had knocked Tyson out in a huge upset eight months earlier to become a champion again against the odds.

Despite the surprising inclusion of the four-time heavyweight champion it’s not actually his first appearance in a reality TV show. Evander came fifth in the US ‘Dancing with the Stars’ back in 2005.
