Is Nathan Cleverly set to leave ?
Popular 26-year old Nathan Cleverly has today taken to social media to state that Frank Warren's announcement that the 26-1 fighter will be gracing the promoter's Aintree card is premature.
"It's been announced that I'm scheduled to fight at Aintree on 1st March." said Cleverly on Twitter (see photo)
"This is yet to be confirmed I'm currently finalising my training team and promotional agreement. I will update when everything is all confirmed!”
It's difficult not to join the dots when you consider he has already withdrew from scheduled bouts against Australian Daniel Ammann in November and Junior Makubu which was planned to take place in Monte Carlo next month.
Both times Cleverly cited injuries as the reason he couldn't participate. But no sooner had one date fell through another was installed in it's place.
It could be surmised that Clevery is actually injured as described, but it's hard not to also consider that he could be treading water whilst making changes to his current set-up.
That could mean swapping out his father as trainer, changing promoters or even both. Or last but not least, it could simply be that Nathan is being astute during agreement discussions and all shall remain as is.
