Pace vowing to make it an unhappy ending to Cook's career

Talbot Green’s Tony Pace has targeted to “take out” Jason Cook in the last fight of the 38-year-old’s career in Cardiff.

Cook (29-5-1, 15 Kos) has boxed from Leisure Centres to abroad in Europe for nearly two decades, and he told Livefight, “This is my last one. 100%. Never again.”

However, Pace says he has so much energy that the Maesteg man won’t be able to keep up with him as the youthful 21-year-old aims to end Cook’s career with a third successive stoppage.

“I’m aiming to take him out because youth is on my side and he’s got no chance,” said Pace at yesterday’s final press conference for the “Reloaded” bill tomorrow night.

“I’m really confident because this is the hardest I’ve ever trained for a fight and I know people say that a lot but it’s the truth.

“I’ve had top sparring with Gary Buckland, I’ve been all over England in different camps and I’m so fit and full of energy that he’s not going to be able to touch me.”

Pace (4-6-1, 1 KO) has endured a tough start to his career after losing four of his first five contests in an 11-fight record.

Also, Pace is unable to get a second crack at the Welsh Area title after Cook failed to make the weight but he remains positive that he will get more title opportunities in the future.

He said: “It’s just a learning experience when I started out and that’s all it was for me. I knew I would get better and it’s been great since.

“It would have been great to finally win the Welsh Area title because I’ve worked so hard for it and hopefully a win here will lead to a Celtic or a British Gold Masters title. That’s what I really want to get out of this.”
