Adamu wants Froch rematch: I will destroy him

Charles Adamu

Charles Adamu has declared that he now wants a rematch with Carl Froch following his controversial Commonwealth title win over Carl Dilks.

Adamu has declared I am going to defend this title and then I want to meet Carl Froch. Im going to beat Carl Froch. Last time I was the winner and they gave the fight to him.

I went back home and I work and I work. Now I want to meet Carl Froch again and this time I will destroy him.

5 years ago, the relatively green Froch was participating in his first scheduled 12 round fight for Adamu's Commonwealth Super middleweight title in his 12th fight as a professional.

Adamu proved a difficult night's work for Nottingham fighter, with a tough and awkward style. But Froch turned on the skills at the mid point, dropping Adamu with a concussive looking shot at the end of the 8th round which left him dazed and looking for his corner at the bell.

Now half a decade on, Froch has grown in stature and remains unbeaten with the WBC world title to defend during his Showtime Super Six tournament.

Meanwhile Adamu has languished in the sidelines, losing fights to Otis Grant and recently Isaac Chilemba for the vacant African Boxing Union super middleweight title, a fight in which he lost nearly every round.

Many observers at ringside felt that Dilks was extremely unlucky to lose the fight, having controlled most of the action and landed a significantly larger amount of shots than the African visitor.

It's very unlikely that Froch would rematch Adamu - and that is perhaps a good thing for Adamu's health.
