04.03.08 Hobson pays tribute to tragic Scott Brookes

Unbeaten Mexborough Cruiserweight Scott Brookes, who died in hospital after a road accident has had many tributes paid in his honour.

Scott's promoter Dennis Hobson said: "Scott was the more boisterous of the two brothers, a lovely lad, who we rated as a genuine prospect -All our thoughts are with his family."

The news of Scott's death is expected to be broken to Light Heavyweight champion and close friend, Clinton Woods today. The Sheffield boxing star is currently stateside preparing for his title fight with Antonio Tarver.

Scott had won all his first four boxing matches and was looking to climb the domestic ranks of the British boxing scene.

Scott was treated in Rotherham General Hospital but lost his fight for life and died at 12.40pm on Tuesday, following serious head injuries.

It has been disclosed that Scott was injured during a collision with a taxi while walking along Rowms Lane in Swinton, during the early hours of Monday morning.
