05.04.08 Derry Mathews and Anthony Crolla both defeated
Featherweight Choi Tseveenpurev (27W-4L, 19ko's) knocked down Derry Mathews 3 times in the fourth round and twice (2 body shots) in the 5th in a 'bull strong' display by the 36-year old Mongolian.
Choi, who has fought the likes of Daniel Thorpe (22W-70L) and Billy Smith (12W-65L) with mixed results and lost to Willie Limmond, was not expected to be anything more than a sacrificial undercard-lamb to Derry Mathews on the Amir Khan roadshow.
Derry slips to 20W-1L and loses his WBU world title.
Meanwhile Anthony 'million dollar' Crolla looked nothing like his moniker as the Mancunian prospect was outpointed by another lower-tiered opponent in Youssef Al Hamidi (4W-8L)
Hamidi, who has lost to Ricky Burns and Michael Gomez, was expected to simply give Crolla a little bit of experience. But obviously the Syrian currently based in Dewsbury never received the Sports Network script and was simply too good for Crolla who now slips to 8W-1L following referee's score of 77-76.
