16.02.08 Quintana to face Michael Jennings?
Shane Mosley's indication that his next bout is likely to be against Zab Judah, leaves the possibility open for Michael Jennings to get a shot at new WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana.
Mosley (44-5, 37 KOs) performed creditably in defeat to Miguel Angel Cotto last time out and is confident he has what it takes to beat the unbeaten Puerto Rican fighter despite now being 36 years of age.
Unsurprisingly Quintana, who shocked the previously unbeaten Paul Williams on February 9 wants to face Mosley given the financial reward but it seems the 'Sugar Man' has his eyes elsewhere.
"Once Cotto beats Alfonso Gomez and I beat my next opponent, which is probably Zab Judah, it's important for me to get my revenge with Cotto. I have to finish what we started," Mosley said.
Jennings, who looked supreme in defending his WBU title against Ross Minter on the Amir Khan-Gairy St Clair bill earlier this month, was ranked number three in the WBO rankings - with only Antonio Margarito and Mosley ahead of him - before Quintana beat incumbent champion Paul Williams.
With Margarito set to fight Kermit Citron on the undercard of Cotto's April 12 bout with Alfonso Gomez, Quintana is left short of options unless he opts for an instant rematch with Williams, which could benefit the Chorley fighter (32-1, 15 KOs).
